St. James’ Street in the 1890’s. Munn’s Corner was named after Robert Munn, chemist, and the town’s registrar of births, marriages, and deaths, whose shop can be seen here. Opposite, although not visible in this photo, is the Clock Face Inn, and the Boot Inn at the corner of Parker Lane, and next to the tall gable of a row of shops built in 1876 (visible on the right), which still survives today.
